Since just before 1:30 in the morning on April 16th there have been a string of quakes on Kyushu island (southern Japan). At least two of the quakes have been magnitude greater than seven. On today’s news it was reported that there have been more than 500 quakes since Saturday measuring greater than 1 on the Japanese scale (large enough to be felt without instruments). Tens of thousands of people are living in shelters. There are large areas without water, power and gas. Thank you for your prayers for Kumamoto and for Japan.
We live in northern Japan and were unaffected by this quake. The Assemblies of God has a couple of churches in the area, but no serious damage has been reported. The nearest Assemblies of God missionaries are located in Fukuoka, close enough to feel some of the quakes, but not close enough to be directly affected.
